It is research that has opened up the medical secrets of the last 100 years and has brought to light so many life-saving discoveries that have changed our world and improved our quality of life.

Whilst our medical achievements have been spectacular there are still many questions to be answered and many problems to be solved.

It takes a number of small incremental steps over an extended period of time to achieve the medical breakthroughs that are necessary for improved patient care, and the cure and the treatment of a variety of diseases and conditions.

For every breakthrough in medical science enormous resources are committed to research and development.

Exhaustive research, the acquisition of special equipment, time consuming tests, and endless hours of data collection and painstaking documentation precede each new procedure, treatment or cure.

Since its inception the Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation has funded a variety of local research grants which address many issues affecting the health and quality of life of Tasmanians.

We cannot afford to slip behind in the field of medical research. It is imperative that these and future projects are supported with all the necessary material and financial resources.

In just a few years the Research Foundation has established an exciting and very relevant research program.
